Full-suspension fun on the Focus Thron² 6.7
The Focus Thron² 6.7 is a full-suspension e-mountain bike. It features the new top-spec Bosch PerformanceLine CX motor, Bosch 500 Wh powertube battery and 29″ wheels. The frame features Focus’s F.O.L.D. technology and the bike has Rockshox front and Suntour rear suspension.
Bosch power
The Thron² 6.7 has the generation 4 Bosch PerformanceLine CX motor. This is the most powerful Bosch motor with assistance of up to 340% in Turbo mode. The Bosch system has 4 selectable levels, starting at Eco (50% assistance). The new design is lighter and smaller than it’s predecessor and features a full size chainring, meaning no resistance when pedaling without assistance. E-MTB assistance mode is selectable from the handlebars – this responds to the rider’s needs and will switch seamlessly between Tour and Turbo mode as needed.
The battery is a 500Wh Powertube. This will give you a realistic, real-world range of around 50 miles in mixed assistance levels and varied terrain. In Eco mode you could achieve considerably
The display on the handlebars is the Bosch Purion.
What else?
The Thron² range has a slightly more relaxed geometry than the Jam². This means a bit more comfort and versatility for longer rides. Focus have engineered this bike to cope will all terrain and it really can take you anywhere. You get RockShox Recon RL forks with 130mm travel on the front and an SR Suntour Edge shock on the rear. 29″ wheels help flatten the terrain, shod with Schwalbe Nobby Nic tyres that are 2.6 inches wide.
The gears are brand new SRAM SX Eagle 12 speed.
The brakes are Shimano – hydraulic disc with BR-MT420 4-pot calipers.
In conclusion
The Focus Thron² 6.7 full-suspension e-MTB is entry level in cost, but not in performance, looks or fun. The bike is also potentially very versatile as there is an option to add any of the EQP features – pannier rack, mudguards, a stand and a light. Any of these can be ordered at point of purchase, or fitted at a later date.
