Excellent Hybrid from KTM
This KTM Macina Cross P610 is one of the latest variants of one our favourite and best selling bikes. It comes with the latest Bosch Performance Line motor and a 625Wh battery.
The appeal of the KTM Cross has always been that it’s relatively light, sporty without being radical and looks like a ‘proper bike’. The KTM Macina Cross P610 has had a styling update, but sticks with these principals. It is designed for road and light off road – woodland tracks, towpaths etc. Lights, mudguards and a rack can be added to make this a truly versatile machine. The wiring for the lights is already routed through the frame – this makes it possible for the addition of lights that run from the main battery and are simply turned on and off from the handlebars. As the KTM Macina Cross P610 doesn’t come pre-ftitted with lights, you have the option of chosing a headlight that suits the terrain you’ll be riding on – we can supply and fit lights with much more power than would be suppplied as standard.
The E-Bike System
For the Macina Cross P610, KTM have chosen to focus on range, rather than ultimate power. Therefore the battery is the biggest available – 625Wh, giving you a realistic, real-world estimate of 65 miles. The range depends on many factors, but we think it’s more helpful to give an idea of what’s actually likely to be achievable, rather than a theoretical maximum.
The bike comes with a 2 amp charger. This will charge the 625Wh battery in about 7 hours from flat. Bosch recommend topping up the battery rather than regularly running it flat. You should also try and avoid extremes of temperature and keep around 60% charged if not in use for extended periods.
The motor is the Bosch Performance Line. Very reliable, 65Nm of torque and up to 300% assistance. That means an extra 3 of you when you most need it. The Bosch system has 4 levels of assistance – from Eco (50% assistance) up to Turbo (300%). The Bosch motor has the advantage over other motors in its class:
- Proven reliability – demonstrated by the huge numbers of brands that have adopted it.
- A smooth assistance. You will not lurch off, but if power is what you want then there is plenty
- Consistency – some of the other motors may get to the same power output but they have problems maintaining this.
- Now has full size chainring & no resistance if pedaling without assistance.
The Bike
We love this bike because it is very versatile, sporty and it looks like a bike. We have not found another e-bike on the market that can match it for these credentials. Many of our customers want to have a bike that they can use both on and off road without it being a mountain bike. If this is you, then we strongly recommend this bike, or one of the other KTM Cross models.
The tyres at 28 x 1.75 are wider than standard road tyres but not as wide as most mountain bike tyres. They have a mountain bike (nobbly) profile so will handle sticky, muddy conditions. Because of the assistance from the motor if you are riding the bike on the road then any additional rolling resistance is compensated for.
Other features include hydraulic disc brakes, 10 speed Shimano gears (Deore) and a kick stand.
There are two frame shapes – one with a standard cross bar and the other with a lower cross bar.
