Like a cat on velcro!
That’s how Moustache describe their latest full suspension Trail bikes. OK, we’re not entirely sure what that means either, but we are certain this is a fantastic e-mountain bike. This one is the Moustache Samedi 27 Trail 4. It’s entry level only in terms of the other Moustache bikes in the range. As with all Moustache bikes, the Trail 4 is well spec’d, very well designed and stunning to look at.
Moustache are an extremely well respected company in the world of electric bikes. They recently won the prestigious Best E-Mountain Bike award. Based in France, they are a relatively small company, they only produce electric bikes and they work exclusively with Bosch. The bikes are innovative, sometimes unusual but always great products. This is our third year of stocking their bikes and we are increasing the number of models that we range each year.
The Moustache Samedi 27 Trail 4 has the new generation 4 Bosch PerformanceLine CX motor. This is the most powerful Bosch motor with assistance of up to 340% in Turbo mode. The Bosch system has 4 selectable levels, starting at Eco (50% assistance). The new design is lighter and smaller than it’s predecessor and features a full size chainring, meaning no resistance when pedaling without assistance. E-MTB assistance mode is selectable from the handlebars – this responds to the rider’s needs and will switch seamlessly between Tour and Turbo mode as needed.
The battery is the largest Bosch battery – 625 watt hour. It is a PowerTube version, so neatly integrated into the downtube. The range is over 50 miles based on average usage and on varying terrain – i.e. not a best case scenario but a realistic expectation.
The bike itself has a very impressive spec. Capable of handling the toughest terrain with its various lightweight components. The total weight is 23.5.Kg – impressive for a full sus e-bike. RockShox 35 front forks provide 150mm of travel and the same amount at the rear from Moustache’s own Magic Grip air shock. The Trail 4 has SRAM SX Eagle 12-speed gears with 11-50 tooth cassette. Shimano MT500 hydraulic disc brakes provide ample stopping power but with feel and control. There is also a remote controlled dropper seatpost.
The Samedi 27 Trail 4 comes in a fabulous shade of blue with a very slight metallic sparkle. But with this spec and these looks, we guarantee you’ll never feel blue riding it.
