The Tern Vektron S10 is a Bosch powered folding bike.
Tern are renowned for the quality of their folding bikes and this model continues to be popular with those wanting a really reliable, quality, folding e-bike.
The Electric System
The bike comes with the Bosch ActiveLine motor. This has 50 newton metres of Torque and will give you assistance of up to 250% in turbo mode- that’s 250% added to whatever power you put in. There are 4 levels in total and if you select the lowest level (Eco) then the assistance is 40%.
The battery is a 400 watt hour battery. Assuming average conditions and a mix of assistance levels you can get an impressive 40 miles with this combination of battery and motor.
The Purion display is easy to use, and gives quick access to the motor’s four levels of assistance – eco, tour, sport and turbo, while also displaying speed, battery life, trip or total distance and of course range. The Purion combines your display with the controller, giving a neat finish to the handle bars.
Components
The gears are Shimano Deore 10 speed. Lightweight and giving a good range and smooth, reliable gear shifts. The brakes are Shimano hydraulic disc giving you confidence in the stopping power.
The seatpost system utilises a unique telescopic system, which very unusually for a folding bike means the bike can accommodate someone up to 6′ 5″. The rear rack can carry up to 27 Kg and will accommodate a child seat. The Thule Yepp Maxi seat will fit without additional adapter. The Tern Vektron S10 rolls on Schwalbe Big Apple tyres, which have a great amount of grip, and smooth out even rough, bumpy roads and have puncture protection. These tyres ensure a comfortable yet firm ride and comfort is further enhanced by the padded saddle and the ergonomic grips. It also has a unique adjustable stem to that you can adjust the handle bars exactly as you want them.
Built for the Commuter
Folding the bike is simple and well thought out. The clasps are easy to open and close but everything about them is reassuringly solid. The front wheel folds back and is held in place by a magnet and a strap. The handle bar is also held in place with a strap.
Talking about the saddle, the underside has been re-engineered so that when you are carrying the bike you can put the saddle over your shoulder to support the weight. Clever.

Size
Finally, size: as with many folding bikes the wheel size is 20″ and because of the telescopic seatpost and the adjustable, telescopic stem the bike is suitable for anyone from 4′ 10″ to 6′ 5″!
